A Christmas to Remember
Dec 2006 |
This production was first performed in December 1993, as a short piece in a larger Christmas show.
It's written by Andy Skroska, and in 2006 was expanded into its own production. The show is a
wonderful tour of pop-culture, telling the traditional story of Jesus' birth with a nod to numerous
TV specials and movies. We have George Baily interacting with Scrooge briefly, a visit to a certain
British hotel establishment, a dash of Star Trek, a bit of the Blues Brothers, and a speech by Linus.
It's a great piece of writing.
Lighting, however, was a challenge. This was the first 'production' in Vineyard's new space, and
it took place with most of the lighting system still missing. There were only 6 dimmers and 3 non-dim
circuits available, and only par cans and fresnels to work with. Blocking created three main areas on
stage, plus a stage extension.
